Description:
Red Larkspur occurs locally in mixed evergreen forests. Expect to see it on mossy banks where its rootstocks penetrate and hold the soil. The red-orange flowers are welcomed by hummingbirds when they appear in late spring. In your garden give this plant a well-drained shady site where the soil can be dry during the summer months. Some of its companions in nature are sedums, heucheras, fringe-cups and mist maidens.
