Description:
This deciduous tree grows quickly to 60 feet or more. A native to streamsides, Cottonwoods require continual moisture around their roots. Uses for this plant include soil stabilization and restoration of degraded areas and large scale windbreaks. The roots of this plant are invasive, and so should not be planted near house foundations, sewer lines, etc. Elevation to 6000 ft. To the California Indians, it was prized as an herb which treated muscle strain headaches and healed cuts and bruises. They also used it to treat sores on their horses.
