Description:
The California Black Walnut is usually a low, wide crowned tree to 40 feet high. The trunk is short, often forked near the base with big upward branches and drooping tips. The trunks of old trees is very roughly fissured with narrow , deep furrows and ridges very dark in color. It is found along stream borders and moist ravines similar to situations where sycamores grow, in the foothills and valleys of coastal southern California.
